Sori Muthu Ayyanar Temple Karaiyar

After Seevalaperi Sudalai Madan , I went to Papanasam Falls, then the less known Agasthiar cave temple.

Then enroute to the Karaiyar dam, amidst thick Forest,  we have  Sori Muthu Ayyanar Temple at Karayar.

This temple is quite big taking into account its surroundings.

It is situated beautifully amidst the Thamaraparani river and the western ghats with bushy Karayar Forest .

The main deity is Ayyanar or more correctly Sastha.

Dharma Sastha is the original controller of Bhuta deities along with Vigneshwara.

The local name for Dharma Sastha is Ayyanar.  He accepts only vegeterian padayal like Pongal rice, ghee etc.

In this sori muthu ayyanar temple,  there are his subordinate bhuta deities like below:

Sangili Bhoothathar.
Thalavai Madasamy   ( this deity has a bull like face.  very fierce among the type of madans).
Pechiamman Brahmasakthi and Sudalai
And many other deities...

The bull faced Thalavai Madan Samy.

Petchi , Brahma Sakthi and Sudalai Mada Samy.

The Iron Sandals,  the Decorated Spear and other interest articles could be spotted in this temple.

I also found statues of bulls, dogs, Naga etc. aligned at one place .

There is a separate place for animal sacrifice and I think people serve themselves by sacrificing their animals.

Many village people come on Friday in town buses and do their pooja.  So on all Fridays the temple will be open even afternoon.

I think after 5 PM the forest department does not allow vehicles to go inside the forest area where the temple is located.

I could not take the main Sori Muthu Ayyanar deity as they politely declined to allow me to take the actual snap.
